We’re Mentioned in The Straits Times!

We Love Jazz was recently mentioned in the 22nd July edition of The Straits Times (page A12)! Read the web article here! Last year’s community jazz festival, We Love Jazz Party, saw us featuring violinist Julai Tan on Day 2, themed “World of Singapore Jazz – SG Jazz Legends”.

At 93 years of age, Julai Tan is Singapore’s oldest surviving jazz musician who still gigs occasionally. We Love Jazz Party (WLJP) was featured in this article in 2017.  Here are some snapshots from last year.

Yue Peng, one of WLJ’s directors, talks about Singapore’s jazz history.

In recent times, we are beginning to discover that Singapore had a vibrant jazz scene that spanned from nearly a century ago, and a surprisingly long and rich history. We Love Jazz SG is taking steps to bring to light the prominence of our very own jazz heritage. We are gaining some attention, and hopefully more people will take interest in our own unique jazz history that has spread far from its birthplace.

We’re heartened to see you performing on the big stage for NDP 2018, and congratulations to you and your family for embodying such great spirit and unstoppable love and talent for the music we love, Jazz!
