Singapore International Jazz Battle 2018 & The Forum (SIJB) is a combination of what we believe can be a powerful tool of support within the community.
SIJB 2018 brings together the regional learning community of Jazz while creating an inclusive yet competitive platform for participants and listeners in two core segments – a jazz battle comprising both solo and group divisions as well as a forum segment.
The event also features a welcome concert with an exciting performance lineup by musicians of LASALLE College of The Arts, the SIJB Organising Committee, the international adjudicators and more. Audiences will be treated to a 2-hour display of eclectic musical material, presented by musicians ranging from students to professionals. The concert (and competition in extension) is a diverse showcase of local and international acts, in WLJ SG’s spirit of promoting inclusivity and regional community exchange.
The Jazz Battle is a competition conceived to promote healthy rivalry among the regional learning community of Jazz. Through this inclusive yet competitive platform, participants will be motivated to exchange ideas and inspire one another, all while gaining constructive insights and encouragement from an international judging panel from Japan and Thailand.
In addition, The Forum & The Youth Forum segment aims to foster a communal space of sharing, where community members can gather to strengthen regional networks and international friendships, improving public awareness of Jazz as an art form that blends technical ability, creativity and innovativeness.
